Horse SenseAbility grew out of founder Polly Kornblith’s passions for working with kids at-risk and for being with animals. Starting in 2010, Polly and her Labrador Retrievers started making therapy visits through Dog B.O.N.E.S. of Massachusetts to schools, libraries, hospice patients and medical facilities.
In 2015, Polly decided to combine her love of horses with her interest in the healing power of animals for those who have experienced trauma. She began the process of becoming both a PATH-certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (TRI) and an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL).
During the summer of 2017, Polly and an occupational therapist ran a therapeutic horsemanship program using two of Wildstar Farm’s horses at a school run by The Home for Little Wanderers in Walpole MA. The pilot's success in engaging and touching the lives of children who had experienced abuse and neglect led to the vision for Horse SenseAbility based at Wildstar Farm.
